Fleece Fest

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Just as you’re packing away your winter coat, a few fuzzy Brooklyn residents are ready to get rid of theirs. Five sheep will get their summer haircuts at the annual Prospect Park Zoo Fleece Festival on May 21 and 21. There are a lot of activities planned throughout both days to help people better understand how a sheep’s woolly coat ultimately becomes a sweater.

11am – 4pm Sheep-themed arts and crafts in Animals in Art area
12 – 4pm Wooly Wonders at the barn: Weaving, felt making, and finger knitting demonstrations
2 – 5pm Barnyard Hoe-Down: Get your toes tapping to live country music by the Otter Brothers
1:30 and 3:30pm Sheep Shearing at the barn
12:30, 1, 2:30, and 3pm Live Animal Encounters at the Animals in Our Lives Theater
11:30am, 2, and 4pm Sea Lion Feedings
